Creative Soundblaster Live 5.1 and Windows 7 drivers

I just got done building some New Core I7 computer systems and put on Windows 7. They are sweet and everything went better that expected. I can’t believe how fast they are compared to our Old Athlon XP systems from 3 or 4 years ago. My computer gave up the ghost and blew a capacitor so I had to act quickly to get back up and running. At the same time I built Julie the same exact computer. Once I got it all up and running I found that windows 7 had no hickups or issues with any of my software or hardware, except the Creative Soundblaster card that I use. Creative is no longer supporting or updating drivers for these old beauties. I need it to run my Digital Speakers because it has a digital out SPDif port on it. I spent several days without sound until after doing some research today I found that there are some free third party drivers available from KX project. http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/down.php?language=en

Got it up and running, change the settings in windows to use it as the default, and works like a charm. Just had to share it with anyone who runs into the same problem or if I forget how I did it down the road when relaoding windows.

Good Luck.

By the way, my system specs are
Mainboard MSI X58m
Intel core i7 920 2.6GHZ
6 GB DDR3 memory (2GB x triple channel)
1TB WD hard drive 7200RPM green drive
DVD burner
Evga PCI-E Geforce 8400GS 512MB DDR2 video
Windows 7 Professional x64

used my old case but added a Thermaltek 550W power supply, very nice, modular and very heavy.
