Just upgraded our blog to WordPress 3.0.1 today. Trying to keep our sites up to date and with fresh software. We recently added sub-categories to our website by brand/model that the item fits, so Apple Ipod batteries are now int he category PDA & MP3 Batteries>Apple, with a logo to make it easy to see and click on. Let us know if you like the change, we think it should be easier to navigate and hopefully better also for the search engines to navigate and search items. One last thing is we have a Facebook and Twitter feed going so please check us out and follow us.

New Black Universal Charger – fits most batteries

We have got instock such a cool and nifty products this week. We have not listed it yet on our website but we should have it up soon. It is a Universal Charger that can adapt and fit most all batteries for Cameras, Camcorders, PDAS, iPaq’s, GPS, and anything that takes a 3.6V 3.7V 7.2V or 7.4V battery, which is just about all consumer electronics. This also includes Li-ion, Li-poly, Ni-MH, and Ni-CD chemistry batteries. This charger has movable contacts and a microprocessor to automatically check polarity. So as long as the contacts can meet the battery contacts it will work. This is also a Rapid Charger so it wlil charge the battery quicker than some chargers. Here is how it works using a Canon BP-911 BP-915 battery for demonstration.

There are a few batteries that we have found it will not fit so far, like the BT-H32 Sharp battery because the battery is too wide where the contacts need to line up. Another battery is the Kodak KAA2HR which has contacts that are on opposite end of the battery and so it is too long to fit in the charger and meet the contacts points.

We also have a Mini universal charger for sale, but it only does 3.4 to 4.2V batteries and is much smaller, mostly for small camera and cellphone batteries.

More Free Software testing… Backup software

I have found such a cool and useful feature today that I was unaware of and thought I should share for anyone with a similar situation. We run a computer 24/7 that hosts all our important pictures, database files, Quickbooks file, videos, excel files, word docs, etc. A file server. This of course holds lots of important, irreplaceable files that we rely on and family pictures and videos that are important for our business and personally important as well. We can access these files by laptop or from any of our computers on our network. This computer has no monitor, keyboard, or mouse, we access it via remote desktop another super useful tool (more on that later). So it goes without saying that we need a good easy way to backup the system. We use a external hard drive that could be grabbed quickly in an emergency, and is easy to access. We have always used a free backup utility called Version Backup. It works nice and keeps an incremental backup, and several version of files that you may use often so that you can go back to a certain date if needed. The only problem is that it would not backup files that are in use, like our quickbooks file, or something if someone left their computer on overnight and still connected to the database. The backup program will just error and not copy the file. I recently bought a 1.5 TB hard drive and decided to also try and find better backup software. I heard of a program called Cobian Backup 9, so I gave ut a try. There is an option that you can enable on Windows XP and above called Shadow Volume copy. This allows you to backup files that are in use without erroring out, using the operating system backplane. Such a useful and cool feature. I had to share it. So now we are running both Version backup and Cobian, but soon I will stop using Version backup and go with the Cobian software only.

Next I need to figure out what to do for an online backup of just files that I need to protect in case of fire, water damage, etc.

Free Software for video editing

I have been testing Free video editing apps this weekend, after going through about 10 programs that all had issues of one kind or another or did not work at all on My Vista x64 laptop, just to have my OS reduced to corupt files the next morning, I was about to give up. Then I came across a really cool website called www.majorgeeks.com who test and recommend software. They listed a video editing application called AVIdemux 2.5 which did exactly what I needed it to do, handle VOB or MPEG2 files and edit them with precision. Windows Movie Maker almost did the job, except it will not recognize VOB, but even after renaming it to a .mpg file, it would not correctly/acurately cut where I would tell it to cut and splice. Now I can finally add my edited videos to Facebook for my wife.

Next week we are going to be looking for a HD video camera that will store the video to hard drive and then connect directly to our computer to dump the video. We have been using a VHS-C camera for the last 11 years, and now I have to go through all my home movie tapes and record them to DVD with my DVD recorder. What a pain, but at least once it is all done I will have them safely on my Server which getys backed up every night.

Ebay failed listing error 240

Had an error listing to ebay today, figured out the problem was that we had an old template that listed “Money Order” in the listing, The error only said this “Failed:
IMPROPER WORDS
240 The item cannot be listed or modified. The title and/or description may contain improper words”"

Once I finally figured out from reading other blogs the problem I decided to add it to our blog. Good Luck

Just upgraded to the new version of wordpress, it has added some weird characters to our blog posts but for the most part it is readable. More content coming soon. Mini Universal Battery Charger

Another cool product added to our website recently. This is a very interesting and useful item. It is a battery charger that can adapt to different batteries and the contacts on those batteries. Basically in general, all a good battery charger does is connect to a battery and apply the correct amount of voltage to it, usually about 4 volts at 1 amp for an hour or so, then less voltage as the battery continues to charge fully. Chargers can tell how long a battery needs to charge by testing the voltage on the battery, as a battery charges up its voltage increases. After a few hours the battery is full and the unit stops charging.

Our mini universal battery charger can charge any battery within a voltage spec of 3.5V to 4.2V which covers many camera batteries, and most cell phone and PDA batteries. Batteries with more than 2500mAh may have a problem charging in this mini charger, and the positive and negative contacts must be no farther apart than 1 1/4″. This battery charger is extremely useful for devices where you want to charge a spare battery while your using the other battery in the device. Such as this example, say you have a cell phone or PDA that you use constantly and when it runs out of power, your stuck to plugging it into the wall. This is very inconvenient. So now if you have a spare battery and this charger, instead of being stuck to a wall cord until the battery recharges, you just have a battery constantly being charged in this mini universal charger, once your cell phone or PDA runs out of power, take out the battery and swap it with the battery that is on the charger and the dead battery will charge while your now using the fully charged battery. See how useful this can be to keep your device portable.

We should be getting a bigger universal charger in the future that can do bigger batteries and charge batteries with higher voltages, the price is much more expensive but it will give those with like a 7.2V battery an option.

Universal Travel Adapter, plug converter

We have a new product I would like to talk about and refer everyone to view. We have many people that want to take their battery charger and ac adapter overseas with them. The 220V plugs in other countries are different for each country, such as Europe and Japan, and australia all use different style plugs but are 220V instead of 110V like USA style plugs. We have started to sell a universal plug adapter that you can use on our chargers and ac adapters (which are both 110V and 220V compatible, autoswitching adapters)

You can use our plug adapter to plug a ac adapter USA style into a Europe or whatever country your in, and it will physically adapt the plug for you. This does not change the voltage currency so you need to make sure your device can utilize 220V power, or vice versa if your going the other way, Europe to USA style plug, etc.
